CPT Committee Chair Applications 2013-2014

Chair Positions:

 

Community Relations/Events: These chairs maintain relationships with campus demographics, including campus organizations, graduate students, and faculty both on and off campus. These chairs must have excellent communication skills and must be readily available to accommodate various meetings and networking/marketing events. These chairs help SAAN collaborate and maintain relationships with other organizations and demographics on campus.

 

Education & Outreach: These chairs will ensure that the central planning team, SAAN members, and the rest of campus are educated about social justice issues. They will be in charge of disseminating information by holding bi-weekly forums/workshops and using Tumblr and other media to spread awareness. Also, these chairs will organize and work with SAAN’s membership. Applicants must have excellent communication skills, knowledge of social justice, and must be driven to learn and work with others.

 

External Relations: These chairs organize the alumni and out of state university participant aspects of the conference (including networking events). They also take minutes at weekly meetings. They must be detail-oriented, have strong organizational skills, and be able to network and communicate effectively.

 

Finance: These chairs are responsible for creating an overall finance strategy for the year and overseeing all financial matters relating to the organization. This includes fundraising, budget oversight, reimbursements, and completing funding applications. Excellent accounting, presentation, and communication skills are necessary.

 

Logistics: These chairs deal with all day-to-day operations of creating the conference and most events throughout the year. From booking rooms and flights for speakers, to working the Union staff, they are responsible for planning every minute of the conference weekend. They ensure that the CPT and events stay on schedule. The Logistics Chairs require strong organizational and management skills.

 

Marketing: These chairs implement innovative ways to publicize the conference and generate excitement and awareness on campus by planning and executing flyering, tabling, and chalking, as well as utilizing social media. They are also responsible for conceptualizing, planning, and executing outreach both before and after the conference. Additionally, they manage registration and payments for the conference.

 

Media: These chairs are responsible for creating the conference booklet and designing the logo for the conference. They also design and update the website with information regarding events, workshops, speakers, registration, and publicizing other efforts made by SAAN. They complete all graphic design projects such as flyers, banners, and posters. These chairs also create all promotional videos as well as those used for the conference and other events.

 

Programming: These chairs are responsible for planning all conference content in line with the vision for the year. This includes creating workshops, finding and contacting speakers and entertainment, and organizing panels. They are also responsible for maintaining contact with speakers throughout the conference planning process. This position requires strong networking and communication skills.


Small Groups: These chairs are responsible for selecting and training small group facilitators who are the face of SAAN at the conference. They tailor group dynamics and create activities to keep the energy level of participants high throughout the weekend. They assure a positive interaction between participants, speakers, and other guests.
